Our Story

Meet the founders

Deep Space was born in 2023, out of the same problems every builder knows too well. Projects slowed down, not because teams were not working hard, but because the systems around them never worked together.

Ricky spent years on live sites as an engineer, before helping grow an Australian job management startup into a global unicorn.

Luke worked hands-on in design and BIM delivery, where he saw project information scattered across too many systems.

We had lived the same story from both sides: mid-sized builders forced to juggle 5 to 27 disconnected tools, relying on spreadsheets to stitch everything together.

We realised that the issue was not effort, it was inefficiency. Builders were spending more time managing tools than managing jobs. That had to change.

2000 - 2020

Lessons from the field

Deep Space was born out of the same problems every builder knows too well. Projects slowed down, not because teams were not working hard, but because the systems around them never worked together.

2023

It starts as a BIM product line

Deep Space started life in 2023 as a BIM product line, built to solve how badly project information moved between design and site. The deeper we got, the clearer it became that the problem was not confined to BIM. It ran the length of the job, from tender to final account. So we set out to build a construction operating system that connected everything in one place. No more chasing numbers across different apps. No more wasted hours reconciling data. Just builders free to focus on delivery.

2024

Laying the foundations

We acquired CodeSafe, a safety platform trusted for over 12 years by more than 200,000 users. From that foundation, we began shaping Deep Space into a single system that connects preconstruction, procurement, commercial, scheduling, delivery, HSEQ, and reporting.

2025

Early adoption in ANZ

Within six months, we launched Deep Space into pre-release with mid-sized commercial builders across Australia and New Zealand. The platform already includes subcontractor and client portals, budget registers, claims, variations, retentions, procurement schedules, site diaries, RFIs, and real-time dashboards.

Today

Built for builders

Deep Space is a construction operating system that manages project financials and delivery in one place. With fixed pricing, hands-on implementation, and AI assistance, Deep Space helps every mid-size builder scale without drowning in admin.

Built for builders

Deep Space is now a complete construction operating system that brings financials and delivery together in one place. With fixed pricing, hands-on implementation, and AI assistance, it helps mid-sized builders scale without drowning in admin.

Why we exist

We believe builders should not need 20 different apps to finish one project. Deep Space brings everything together, giving PMs, CAs, site teams, clients, and subcontractors one connected source of truth. Less friction. Fewer disputes. Faster projects.

Leadership

Luke Johnson, Co-founder

Luke has led complex design and BIM projects and knows first-hand the challenges faced on site. At Deep Space, he leads technical development and works alongside customers through implementation, getting teams live on the platform and making sure it holds up on real jobs.

Ricky Sevta, Co-founder & CEO

An engineer by training, Ricky spent years on live sites before helping grow an Australian job management platform into a global unicorn. At Deep Space, he drives the product vision and ensures the platform is always grounded in the realities of building.

Michael Clothier, Co-founder

Michael brings deep experience in design, BIM, and client delivery.
