The Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project (VMFRP) is an environmental initiative aimed at reviving over 13,000 hectares of wetlands and flood-dependent forests in Northern Victoria. The project involves installing infrastructure to restore seasonal environmental flows to floodplains. Recently renewed funding from the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments allows the VMFRP to complete planning approvals, engage with stakeholders, and finalize environmental assessments, but does not cover construction activities. Key project sites include Gunbower National Park, Guttrum Benwell Forests, Vinifera Nyah, Belsar-Yungera, Hattah Lakes North, Lindsay Island, Wallpolla Island, and Burra Creek, with varying stages of progress and engagement with Traditional Owner groups.
